Corner Canyon scored touchdowns on six straight drives in the second, third and fourth quarters Friday, beating American Fork 49-14 for the Class 6A state football championship at Rice-Eccles Stadium.

The Chargers won the 5A championship last year before moving to 6A. American Fork lost in the 6A title game for the second year in a row. Corner Canyon had defeated the Cavemen 59-28 in the regular season.

Cole Hagen passed for 205 yards and three touchdowns, two to Noah Kjar, in the first half as the Chargers took a 28-7 lead. Corner Canyon converted three fourth-down plays on its opening drive, including a 14-yard TD pass to Kjar on fourth and 7.

The Chargers were stopped on downs at the AF 17-yard line on their next drive and Hagen then was intercepted by Peyton Wilson. But the next three Corner Canyon possessions ended in touchdowns in the second quarter, and the trend continued in the second half. The Chargers' 42-7 lead with 6:49 remaining in the third quarter resulted in a running clock via the 35-point rule.
