The Utah State football team won’t have a conference game until the fifth game of its season, per the 2020 schedule that was released by the Mountain West Conference on Thursday.
The Aggies will play four nonconference games before facing its first MWC opponent in San Diego State on Oct. 10. Last season, USU played just two games before facing its first conference opponent.
The Aggies play at Maverik Stadium for its first two games of the season. Two of its first four games are against teams in Utah — Southern Utah University and Brigham Young.
After the conference opener, the Aggioes go on the road to face Boise State a week, representing the earliest the Aggies have faced the Broncos in the last three seasons. That matchup is usually late in the season.
It also means USU must face what are generally regarded as MWC’s top two or three programs right off the bat.
The Aggies close out their schedule against Air Force at home on Nov. 28.
Utah State finished its 2019 season at 7-6 overall and 6-2 in the Mountain West. It lost in the Frisco Bowl to Kent State.
